Rushlight
Shielded low-level light
The quietest light in the range.
The light, its use and its story
Recessed into a wall or the riser of a step, the Rushlight throws a controlled pool of light down onto the surface below. It's the fixture you use when you need someone to see where they're putting their feet and nothing more - no glare in the eye as you climb, no light escaping upward, no visible source at all from above.
Shielded by design, it's equally at home lining a flight of steps, marking a change in level, or grazing a wall down to a terrace. Used well, you shouldn't notice it working. You should only notice that the route is easy to walk.
A rushlight was the humblest lamp in Britain for centuries - a stem of marsh rush, peeled and dipped in fat, burning in an iron clip. It cost nothing and asked for nothing. The name fits.
Every Hudson fixture takes its name from the British landscape after dark - its creatures, its plants, and the old country words for dusk.

Placement advice
Position the shield to direct light onto the surface people need to see. Check the view from both directions along the route.
Keep the source out of direct view. Do not use extra brightness to compensate for poor positioning.

The shape shows relative intensity, not how far the light travels. Candela values come from the file. This is not a site illuminance calculation or a compliance assessment.
